Hi, I’m Kimm Lofthouse. I’m a real estate agent broker in downtown SLC and my brokerage is My Lofthouse.

I'm excited to talk to you about this year-long project that I’ve been working on: I decided to do an accessory dwelling unit in the back of my property. There are many benefits to having a little guest house in your backyard: you can move family members in, you can have people come visit, [set it up as an] Airbnb, or use it as an investment property. Everybody is definitely looking to add some additional income into their mortgage.

What I like about my 1-bedroom unit is it’s only 432 square feet, but it feels a lot bigger. Modal did a really smart design with a ton of storage — like all the benches have storage. It has tall ceilings, lots of light, and it’s clean and contemporary. They did a really good job with all the upgrades and finishes, from the tile to the marmoleum. It’s really pretty, and I’m excited for you to see it.

I financed my Modal with the help of Melissa Erickson at Guild Mortgage, she’s awesome and it was a quick, easy experience. So if you are interested in an accessory dwelling unit, please contact me. I’d love to help you and I can walk you through mine to see if this is something you’d be interested in.
